Veterinarians
Kelly J. Cummins-Brown, DVM
“My name is Kelly and I was born and raised in New Jersey. I received my Bachelor’s Degree from Purdue University in 1994. After graduation, I worked as a zoo keeper for the Cincinnati Zoo. I attended veterinary school at Ohio State University and did my preceptorship with a board certified exotic animal specialist. I joined the Animal Care Center in July 2000 and I bought the practice in 2007. My family and I share our home with a domestic shorthair, Zeke, a labradoodle, Ginny, a Hahne’s Macaw, Isa, and numerous fish. My special interests areas include exotic animal medicine, surgery, and soft tissue surgery.”
Jaclyn K. Wirt, DVM
“My name is Jaci. I grew up in southeast Iowa. I attended veterinary school at Iowa State University. I started here in January 2010. My areas of interest include neurology and internal medicine. I have two pugs, Nieko and Clyde, and one cat, Fuzzy. I enjoy sports and traveling.”

Brian Brown
“My name is Brian and I am married to Dr. Cummins-Brown. I received my BS from Purdue University in 1993. I received my MBA from the University of Georgia in 2001. You won’t see me much, but I do a lot of behind the scenes work. I have a day job at Nestle, but my evening hours are spent working on books and processing payroll for the Animal Care Center.”

“My name is Ellie and I have been at the clinic since December 2005. My favorite activities include chasing fake mice, aggravating Garfield, and staying out of reach of the dogs that visit. I love to stare at birds, but I promise I would never hurt one. I am a very loveable cat. I make it a point to hand out kisses to the staff members on a daily basis. When you come visit, feel free to pet me!”

“My name is Garfield. I have been here since July 2006 when the girls found me in a cage at the back door. It was love at first sight! The Animal Care Center became my home when everyone was fighting over who was going to take me home. All of the staff has the pleasure of loving me. My favorite part of my job is all of the attention I get from the girls as well as the clients, and greeting everyone who walks through the doors.”

“My name is Teresa and I’ve been here since 2000 as a veterinary assistant. I love caring for your family pets. I work with a team that cares just as much as I do about our jobs and I have lived in the area for 22 years. My husband and I share our home with 2 dogs, Holly and Gracie, and 2 cats, Lucy and Butters.”

Hello! My name is Hannah. I am the newest technician at the Animal Care Center and am super excited to begin my career. I graduated from Hickey Vet Tech Institute in Missouri, where I received my Veterinary Technician Specialized Associate Degree. I was born and raised in Godfrey, where I have always had a passion for animals. My pride and joy is my 3 year old Border Collie, Bella.
Kristin
My name is Kristin. I started working at the Animal Care Center in November 2009. I share my life with my husband and we have one fur-baby, Wolverine. My favorite part of the job is running bloodwork. It makes me feel like a scientist! The Animal Care Center is the best place I've ever worked and I plan to stay for many years to come!
Chelsea
Hi! My name is Chelsea and I have been working at ACC since August 2011. I began working part-time as a co-op through Granite City High School. After I graduated in May, I was hired as a full-time employee. I currently live on my own with my boyfriend. We have one kitty named Leo. Since I have moved, I have been spending more of my free time with my Mom, Dad, sister and brothers. This job is so much fun because of my coworkers and the clients we see. I couldn't ask for a better team to work with, or to work on my kitty!

My name is Deniene and I have been working at the Animal Care Center since 2005. I graduated from Granite City High School in May 2006. I am currently attending Soutwestern Illinois College working towards an associate's degree in Animal Science. My future goal is to attend veterinary school and become a veterinarian. I have several animals of my own: 4 dogs ( Simone, Daisy, Kenya and Pele) and 3 cats (Lucky, Sassy, and Kikki).
Theresa
Hi, my name is Theresa. I've been in animal rescue since 2000. I love animals of all shapes and sizes. I have been working in the veterinary field since 2005 and have been with the Animal Care Center since July 2007. While I work full time at a realtor's office, I can still be seen here on Saturdays. I have 2 dogs and a rabbit. I also have the love of my life, my daughter Hollie. We love to ride horses together and play on the farm.
